As fears go, being afraid of dying is probably one of the most common. I openly confess that I have no real enthusiasm for firsthand experience of the process but I am learning to cultivate a familiarity that does comfort me.

So yes, caregiving changes many things – not least of which is where you think you are going. Disappointments are just part of the trip, not a destination.
Growing Up With Disappointment
When I was a child, the harshest admonition my father could ever invoke was that he was disappointed in me. No amount of threats, groundings, or other punishments could carry the weight of his disappointment.
The Long Disconnect
After all of the soul searching, evaluation, and deep thought, I arrived right back at forgiveness. Right where all of this caregiving started.
